This unique new private initiative, The Dream! Child Foundation has been established in Ghana with a pan-African scope, which aims to use the culture of music to empower and support the African child particularly the underprivileged in overcoming challenges to play a pivotal role in the African socio-economic development.
Officially launched on July 22 at the British Council in Accra, Ghana, with the support of the World Bank, the Dream! Child Foundation already has a Board of Trustees, which includes the Databank, KPMG, the IBRU Organization of Nigeria and crucially the Empowerment Group, a non-governmental organization, headed by Karen Shome Sai, who is vastly experienced in the task of raising and distributing resources for charity.
The Dream! Child Foundation has been invited to Nigeria by the Highlife Club of Nigeria to present the ideals of the foundation as part of the country’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in October 2010.
The Dream! Child Foundation will focus on strengthening and empowering the children of Africa through the provision of adequate health care, education, and other support services.
The foundation seeks to raise funds for selected institutions that influence and alleviate the plight of the underprivileged African Child. The first beneficiary of the Dream! Child Foundation will to be the Korle Bu Children’s Hospital after which the Foundation intends to spread across Ghana and eventually the whole continent.
This of course means that Dream! Child Foundation needs support in the form of contributions, from corporate institutions and individuals alike that identify with its objectives.
